Marie Antoinette Tea Party

January 18, 2010 in Sweet Nothings

I watched Sofia Coppola’s visual masterpiece ‘Marie Antionette’ on Friday night (complete with delicious tiramisu) and found myself being pulled into that world of decadence and frivolity.

. .

The beautiful gowns complete with corsets, lace, hoop skirts and floral detailing made me swoon and I had serious sugar cravings all the way through due to the gorgeous pastel coloured sweet treats that distracted me in many of the scenes.

I had this wonderful notion that perhaps I could organise a group of friends together for a Marie Antionette themed picnic by the lake to dress up in amazing full dresses and eat tiny cakes and biscuits while sipping on tea or champagne and playing cards.

A little extravagant and outrageous I know, but wouldn’t it be fun? I am an actress at heart and love to dress up and be someone different for a few hours and certain parts of the Queen of France’s life would be quite fun to reinact.

Are there any movies that inspire you to the point of creating a party or event in the style of the film?
