My plates that I had spinning so beautifully were starting to fall one by one. Hence this needing to be a week of getting myself together. So I am working on putting systems in place. Diaries, reminders, sanity breaks, routines – it’s all on and I’m hoping that at least one works and sticks.

Affirmations are one of those things I do with great gusto for about three days and then fall off the wagon, don’t give them another thought for a few months and then I feel guilty for not persevering. I think it’s because I find them quite uncomfortable and often a little confronting. It’s not a natural feeling telling yourself positive things to change your mindset and your approach to the day.

I consider one of my faults to be that when I become competent at something, I tend to stop learning about it. Why is that? After reading Crazy Sexy Life, I have been trying to adjust my diet to align with what I’d like to take away from it. One of those things is eating a balanced, predominantly alkaline based diet. Okay Kim, before you go all hippy-dippy on us, would you mind explaining what alkaline is? Sure! As Kris Carr explains it, the chemistry of your body’s fluids and tissues are measured by pH (acid and alkaline).

I don’t know about you, but I’m a very visual person. I like to be able to see what I’d like to achieve/create in front of me, so I have a clear picture of what I’m aiming for and what I’ll have to do to get there. Sometimes it is as easy as believing in yourself and focusing positive energy on your hopes and dreams. I’m a little ‘new age-y’ when it comes to things like affirmations and manifesting your desires.

I do feel that I am getting better at living a life in line with my values and strengths, but I think it could be really valueable if I stepped through it this week: really focusing on strengths, writing a mission statement, taking a look at what I can do to live closer aligned to my values and opening myself to more opportunities.

After a week of letting things go, it’s time for putting things in their place. I am messy and chaotic at the best of times and although the apartment appears to be clean, there are big piles of various papers and homeless items taking over our cupboards, just waiting to be sorted.

The whole “letting go” thing became painfully obvious in the most literal of ways last night. I had horrible stomach cramps, ones that I knew were anxiety related. Now, I’m usually much too carefree (read: reckless) and all over the place to get anxious very often, but this was full blown stress.
